On 5 and 6 December, Orazio Sciortino returns to the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, renewing a dialogue that has grown increasingly vivid over the years.

At the heart of the programme is the world premiere of Sentieri della memoria, for piano and small orchestra — commissioned by Fondazione Arena di Verona and published by Edizioni Curci.

In this new work, Sciortino delves into that instant when a sound reignites an image, a place, a detail we believed forgotten. Memory not as nostalgia, but as motion: elements that return, transform, shift perspective as they flow from the piano to the orchestra. A single, continuous line shaped with remarkable naturalness.

Alongside the world premiere, Sciortino performs Poulenc’s Suite from Aubade, while the orchestra presents Richard Strauss’s Sonatina No. 1 in F major for 16 wind instruments, “From an Invalid’s Workshop.”
A programme that invites close listening: small details that flare up, move, intertwine, and linger like images that continue to resonate.
