Friday, July 25, at the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano, premieres MAXIMA IMMORALIA, a new chamber opera written and composed by ORAZIO SCIORTINO.
Drawing inspiration from secular madrigals and from Renaissance and Baroque musical theatre, Sciortino reactivates codes of the past to transform them into instruments for questioning the present.
The result is a refined and provocative scenic score, one that reflects with intelligence on the body, desire, and the dynamics of power and judgment.
Maxima Immoralia is an opera that challenges conventions, dismantles aesthetic and moral censorship, and restores to artistic language its rightful space of freedom.
A cultured, daring, and necessary gesture.
