Thursday, June 12th, at the Corte dei Miracoli, the journey through Luciano Berio’s Sequenze enters a new dimension.
The eighth event is a leap into the future of sound, where the cello becomes body, transforms, blends, and reinvents itself.
At the center is Sequenza XIV for cello: living matter in the hands of Elide Sulsenti, a performer able to balance instinct and precision, gesture and tension.
Alongside her, composer Alessandro Perini opens up unprecedented listening spaces, crafting a soundscape where technology, acoustics, and composition intertwine.
Making the evening even more special is the Italian premiere of PIETÀ by Lisa Streich, a work for motorized cello and mechanical instrument installation.
A piece of rare intensity, suspended between delicacy and vibration, that expands the perception of sound and the instrumental body.
The program is completed by works by Perini and Gioele Onida, in a weave of contemporary voices that broaden Berio’s legacy.
An event carefully and thoughtfully curated by Vincenzo Parisi, whose artistic direction guides the entire cycle with subtlety and precision.
